An evening with Kaifi

An evening seeped in poetic culture and class the email read,

The proceeds go into saving the planet is what it said.

So off to Chinmaya we head for,

Not before battling the traffic and filling on Etopian momos for sure.

The evening starts with us jostling for the best possible view and comfy seat,

While on the stage eloquence is spent on green peace.

That done, जावेद and शबाना grace the stage,

Promise to take us into romance of the by-gone age.

The story of कैफ़ी and शौकत's tender love is mesmerizing,

The fire of his शेर and नज़म and tales of the time awe inspiring.

There were moments lighter and happier,

There were also darker moments that made their love glow brighter.

They don't make like that anymore,

Love for the land and principles engraved to the core,

Verse after verse- we could only say वाह वाह , क्या बात  and desire for more

The narrative moves something within you,

The hours spent seem moments few.

The autograph session was the next in row

जावेद साहब was all obliging while Ms आज़मी  gave hers post an attitude show.

All in all, a wonderful evening that sadly got over
