Return of the blogger - Amid the frustration and venting out all around

Am back...

The last post was some 2 years back. Can call it the constant battle with time or a writer's block - anything, does not matter much. The truth is that the blog has been around for nearly 5 years now (the first post was in Dec'09) and there have not been too many entries. At a recent school reunion some people pointed out that they have read this page and surprisingly liked it!!. Got me to thinking that I should write more often - as my father says, 'write anything that you feel writing about but do it regularly'. Therefore today's post. Oh yes, shall try to bring in some brevity and retain reader attention. Though that is the last of things which comes to me naturally.

And this is what I see around...

There is a recurring theme that I see around. Everyone seems to be frustrated and venting out. We are venting about work, about life, about sexual preferences, about moral policing, about money we earn, other people earn....the list is endless. While venting out has forever been one of man's basic instincts - from kitchen politics to the intellectual arguments; it seems that the present wave is much stronger, much powerful. Is this because we now have access to the unlimited world of social media where every breath that is taken can become a trending post? Or is it because we as a society are constantly regressing?

I would say more of the latter. While on one side the world seems to have moved light years ahead, we in this part of the continent are still battling issues that have stayed on since the past 70 years. It is quite ironic to see that religion and community led clashes are still ruling roost. Also a full laundry list of issues that surround our personal preferences and way of life have cropped up. Everyone seems to be fiercely protective of their own thoughts while being completely numb to the other person's choice. It seems that the threshold level of tolerance has drastically gone down. We are all there to protest and to vent but just our own issues. Solidarity is a thing of the select few only.

Going back to the initial hypothesis - when I say regression of the society I not only mean that we are resorting to the feudal conservative way of life. This regression is among the so called liberal, educated and thinking young people also. While we are so very conscious about our lifestyle, preferences, et all, we are so very intolerant towards the lifestyle that other people intend to lead. Is this not regressive thinking? If it is ok for someone to roll up a joint, its also ok for the other person to light up an incense stick and fold a hand in prayer. Is it too difficult to co-exist? Signing off with a 'think bout it'
