The fifth grandparent

Like most other I too have 4 grandparents. But I also have a fifth one. Not a step, but very much my own, very real - E/5.
The address that has shaped the history of my family for more about 50 years, could be nothing less. For the un-initiated, it is the official residence that was initially allotted to my granny by DVC, way back in 1959, and later given to my dad (it is another thing that dad and granny were in the same office and dept)
Like a doting family elder, the house has a quite presence of its own. You can feel it enveloping your existence, without actually interfering.
In happiness and bliss your feelings multiply within the walls of E/5. In grief, just being home provides relief. In stress, the house with its presence helps you to think clearly.
You feel safe, peaceful, at bliss and so sure of your elements, the moment you step in E/5.
There was a phase when we has stopped thinking about the house as an official residence. And now this phase - when it is personified as an elder within our everyday existence.
The original residents of E/5 are no more in the same combination. Generations have come and hopefully will come and this house has embraced every single person with open arms.
We do not even think of the day when DVC snatches E/5 from us. We do not need to. E/5 has inculcated its soul so strongly within us that we are too sure of creating an E/5 - anywhere we live.
